The issue is that I don't think the file was originally named just "laputa.mkv"

I suggested a good filename in my earlier post

Laputa - Castle in the Sky [jap.eng][x264.ac3][27912FE3][IkariGendo].mkv

The uploader just needs to rename the file and request a swap.

And what is the reason for this renaming if we still cant tell if it original or not? I am not even sure that "original file name" exist in this case because now there is a heavy suspicion  this is not a actual IkariGendo release but a 3rd party remux using IG video

True but it's always better than 'laputa.mkv' :P Besides the filename i've found seems fairly genuine comparing it to the German one.

That isn't important at all.  Getting the full file name is.  Lets say it isn't actually [IG]'s original release.  Then remove the [IG] tag, and all else is still the same.  What's more important is that it matches the specs on anidb which show people (obviously not us, people before us) having downloaded and avdumped it; thus it is verified.

Not that is actually matters, but this is probably from [IG] since a number of his releases have a German and English versions.

Welllll~ Since my first english release was Laputa (2003 or so... O_o ), and I just made a german x264 release, I _could_ make a new english release as well...

(Just saying this, because I'm the one who makes the Ghibli collection for the german anime fans and maybe can help with one or another release. ^^')

Thanks for the upload. Just saw this wonderful movie. Reminds me of the kind of fantasy electronic RPG exploited a lot in the past, and the whole steampunk setting of Last Exile.

Two hours worth of movie that goes in a blink of an eye. I am still wordless. Give some time to recover so that I can truly express how good it is. No wonder it is said to be Shinkai's favorite movie.

Is it me, or is the English voice cast much worse in this version of the film?

By the way, is this, or is a4e the Disney version of the film?

It's not just you, this version's dub is pretty bad. I listened to the other dub on youtube and it sounded MUCH better. Don't know if this is the Disney dub or not. The video and audio quality for this release are excellent, but the subtitles were missing a few lines. Most of the missing lines aren't important, but a couple were hard to understand without subtitles.. I don't think it's my setup, I tried using CCCP+Media Player Classic, and VLC but both did the same thing. I'm guessing this is how the DVD subs were?

EDIT: This release uses the original dub, not the updated Disney dub. IMO the Disney dub is far superior, but just because you might hate this dub, doesn't mean you'll like the other lol. BTW, I'm thinking the a4e version has the Disney dub based on the comments, but I haven't downloaded it so I can't tell you for sure.

I have the a4e version, and the dub is definitely different than this one. I don't know for sure, but that likely means a4e features the Disney dub.
